Article Surveillance System
Theft is one of the most common and oldest criminal behaviours. Where the ownership of a physical possession can be altered without the rightful owner's consent, theft prevention has been introduced to assert the ownership whenever the rightful owner is physically present. Anti-theft systems have been around since individuals began stealing other people's property and have evolved accordingly to thwart increasingly complex methods of theft. From the invention of the first lock and key to the introduction of RFID tags and biometric identification, anti-theft systems have evolved to match the introduction of new inventions to society and the resulting theft of them by others. We plan and install anti-theft systems including, the integration of point-of-sale and digital video systems, to help retailers minimize shrinkage and protect profits. We also provide ways to apply anti-theft tags at the source of manufacture, saving retailers time and money. We provide solutions to help retailers boost their sales and protect their profits by increasing open merchandising opportunities while reducing shoplifting and internal theft.
Anti-theft systems, also called electronic article surveillance (EAS) systems, are used in a wide variety of settings, including supermarkets, shopping malls and libraries. They typically consist of one or two columns placed opposite each other near entrances and exits. Several technologies are currently on the market, but generally an electromagnetic detection field is produced between the two columns and an alarm sounds if an article with a special tag is carried between the columns.
